The @UglyFruitAndVeg Campaign
Sep 15, 2015
A short time ago, Whole Foods Market responded to a tweet from my co-petition starter, Stefanie. The company stated: "On principle, we never throw out good quality produce based solely on its cosmetic appearance. Our goal is zero waste..."
It's clear to me that they're missing the point. What they do in their stores and what they do BEFORE produce reaches stores are two different things. We all know that the company rejects tons of healthy produce on farms on the basis of cosmetic appearance, like every large US grocer.
Whole Foods is listening, and we have a prime opportunity to tell them how we feel. Will you please reply to their tweet with a tweet of your own right now? You can do so right here: https://twitter.com/WholeFoods/status/643856099230265345.
Tell Whole Foods that you urge them to stop contributing to food waste and to start selling "uglies." Hit "reply" to the company's tweet or insert your message where it says "Reply to @WholeFoods @stefanie_sacks".
We're more than 100,000 people strong, so let's send a big message while they're listening! Thank you!
