Reminder to Neighbors:
To make a difference in the future of the Whittier Neighborhood, we need as many people as possible to participate in the February 5 City Council Hearing on the One Seattle Plan and associated rezoning.
We also need people to email comments and concerns to the Council at council@seattle.gov this week. Let’s flood them with feedback! In addition to your personal comments, you can use or modify any points in the Whittier Petition https://chng.it/GWSkMfSRr2 or the Jan. 28 update https://www.change.org/p/whittier-neighbors-against-seattle-upzoning-proposal/u/33200007.
See below for info on how to participate in the public hearing this week.
Meeting begins at 5:00 PM at Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Ave., Floor 2.
There will be a line outside the Council chamber, starting possibly at 4 pm. Sign-up to speak will start at 4:30. The Council meeting will continue until everyone has been heard, so come after work if you need to.
Each person will get two minutes to comment. (Please practice and time your remarks.)
If you prefer not to speak yourself, you can go up in a group of 3 to 5, and the spokesperson can ask for 5 minutes.
It’s important to attend even if you don’t want to speak – numbers matter!
Signs are allowed, as long as they are small (8.5x11 card stock). No sticks are allowed. To be readable from the front, print only a few bold words. Small signs will also help us find each other.
Please come in person if at all possible. Calling into the meeting virtually is a less-preferred option, but still helps. See instructions here: https://www.seattle.gov/council/committees/public-comment
