The senior staff of Whitesburg Baptist church announced via email on 3/11/2019 that it would be closing the doors to the church daycare on May 31st. No viable explanation was given, and although the need for building improvements was cited, no plan for building repairs was shared. 

This is devastating for my family and for all other families now thrown into upheaval with two months to find alternative child care arrangements.  Our children have no idea what is happening and will be distraught having to enter into a new program and bond with new caregivers out of the blue. The parents whose children attend the daycare programs have come to know and love the staff at WBC Weekday as if they were family. 

Speaking of the staff, they have been totally blindsided and will now have to look for jobs with little notice. Approximately 50 staff will be laid off. How they are supposed to job search while still caring for our children escapes me. If teachers begin to leave before May 31st what then?

This is devastating to the community. If you agree that the closure is unacceptable and must be stopped please sign the petition. We must demand that the senior leadership of Whitesburg Church, Darryl Craft and Rick Stone, reverse their decision to close the daycare.
