The Paris Agreement, also known as the Paris Climate Accord or Paris Climate Agreement, is a plan of action set forth to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming. Issued by the United Nations, the Agreement was first signed in 2016, but will not officially begin until 2020. Recently, Donald Trump has expressed his disapproval of the climate agreement and pledged to suspend America’s participation in the treaty. However, has Trump made the right decision to do so? Due to America’s significant contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions, the United States government should renew its commitment to the Paris Agreement to combat climate change and proliferate American jobs.

Melting ice caps, rising sea levels, loss of global freshwater supply, and the extinction of animals all over the globe.  These things are all happening right here, right now. While the Paris Agreement alone will not put an end to climate change, it is a very important and crucial step for the United States to do its part to reduce the ecological footprint we are continuing to leave behind. By standing with the other 175 countries and parties that have decided to make a positive change, we are choosing our future, our children's future, and the future of our planet.
