To the hundreds of athletes, volunteers, friends and supporters of The Kyle Pease Foundation and its mission for inclusion of athletes of all abilities – Thank You! To the decision makers of the Ironman Brand, The World Triathlon Corporation, The Wanda Group, and Chairman Wang Jianlin – Thank You! My name is Jim Blackburn and I am the sole creator of this change.org petition. The massive outpouring of support and kindness generated from this effort has hopefully gone a long way towards spreading the message of inclusion in a positive and respectful way. Specifically, for Brent and Kyle, while it does not look like racing Kona is in the cards for this year, hopefully everyone involved will watch these amazing brothers a little closer and realize that when they set out to do something, they do it with dignity, class, and the utmost respect for their fellow athletes and for the organizers of the events they participate in. To some, doorways are no big deal - just walk up to them, open them, and walk through. At a young age I was taught to always open doors for others. As individuals, businessmen, executives, and yes, event promoters, it is imperative that we work daily to open doors and provide accessibility and inclusion to all people of all abilities. I truly believe this; Brent and Kyle Pease will compete Ironman Kona someday soon and, most importantly, Brent and Kyle will finish Ironman Kona in record time with dignity, class, and the utmost appreciation for those who helped them get to the finish line.
