Dear Roofus supporters,

Thank you all for your signs, shares, comments, videos, donations, and postering. You have given your time, energy, and money towards bringing Roofus to safety. If this were just one voice screaming into the void, Roofus wouldn’t stand a chance. But thanks to our community backing Roofus, with all of us lending our voices, we have finally made contact with the ivory tower. Your effort hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Unfortunately, the CEO’s response is vague and, against the backdrop of all the unanswered questions, incredibly hollow. For perspective, see unanswered questions here  – just a fraction of the questions they still refuse to answer.

The CEO claims Roofus has been in behavioural testing all this time and will be rehomed elsewhere, and that we should not worry.

This is an alarming update, considering we’ve received a tip-off from a former volunteer who said she only became a pet owner because she adopted a healthy kitten that had been scheduled for euthanasia under the claim of “no shelter resources” — at a time when SDCH was marketing itself as a “no kill” shelter.

The gap between Sydney Dogs & Cats Home’s marketing claims and reality, between staff promises and what’s actually delivered, means we cannot be sure Roofus is safe. We won’t know until we can physically see him and confirm.

Maybe this is bigger than Roofus. Maybe Roofus is just the catalyst. Maybe we need more voices to come forward with their experiences to get someone to care.
