Taiwan has long sought closer ties with the United States, aspiring to uphold democratic values. Yet recent actions reveal a troubling shift toward practices reminiscent of authoritarian regimes, distancing Taiwan from the democratic principles it claims to share with the U.S.

In America, such overreach would be countered with strict accountability. Taiwan must be held to the same democratic standards to prevent a slide into unchecked power. We urge the international community to stand with Taiwan’s citizens and call for adherence to its Constitution and the values of true democracy.

台灣民主危機：正在走向威權主義

台灣一直希望與美國看齊，並致力於維護民主價值。然而，執政黨近期的行為卻顯示出一種令人擔憂的轉變，逐漸走向威權政權，讓台灣遠離與美國共同擁有的民主原則。

在美國，執政者權力會受到嚴格的制衡，台灣必須遵循相同的標準，以防止走向無約束的極權。我們呼籲國際社會支持台灣人民，要求政府遵守憲法，捍衛真正的民主價值。
