Just today, the Westminster Council asked some of the restaurants around Soho to take their tables off the street. Why?
It is still unclear as to what the confusion is around the tables, but the bureaucracy has reached a new level. Berwick St was deserted and the restaurants had done heaps of meal prep, ready for trade in 31 degree heat.
They have their heads in their hands. How much more of this can they take? Covid + bureaucracy? Their staff are in danger of losing their jobs. Tonight they will have an evening with next to nobody on the street. Little turnover, small wages, no tips worth mentioning, food waste and yet the rent and rates must be paid.
When will this stop? Please HELP!! We need people to fight for them!!
