Whiteleys: Planning Committee Tues 29 March at 6.30pm

Thanks to all who came to our street protest yesterday. The energy and passion was amazing, as was the turn-out. You can see the video at the link below. Please come to the Planning Committee hearing at 6.30pm on Easter Tuesday, 29 March, at 6.30pm. The venue is City Hall, Victoria Street. It's open to press and public but we can't speak. A good turn-out will show the strength of community opinion about this appalling "redevelopment" proposal. In Lewisham earlier this month, Councillors deferred a decision on the proposal for the 19 storey Catford Tower against Planning Department advice, after over 350 members of the people turned up to the hearing. Oh - and you might like to know that the Council Planning Department have just agreed with the developers that the proposal "cannot viably support any affordable housing". With two 11 storey residential towers, one would have thought "where there's a will, there's a way...." Thank you for all your support - please help us to keep lobbying the Council to stand up for the local community on this one, and keep spreading the word. Most people are still completely unaware of the threat hanging over this historical and beautiful building.
