Stop spraying toxic chemicals where our children play and go to school

The Issue

The community of Westchester would like to advocate for pesticide-free green space throughout our school district, parks and village.

The American Academy of Pediatrics links early lifetime exposure to pesticides with pediatric cancers, decreased cognitive function and behavioral problems. The

World Health Organization classifies the spraying and application of insecticides as a “probably carcinogenic to humans”, just below “carcinogenic to humans.”
Pesticides can cause cancer a number of ways— by disrupting hormones, damaging DNA, inflaming tissues, and turning genes on or off.
The many types of cancer associated with pesticide exposure include leukemia, neuroblastoma, Wilms’ tumor, soft-tissue sarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and cancers of the brain, breast, pancreas, stomach, prostate, kidneys, colorectum, and testes.

Pesticides are chemicals that may be used to kill fungus, bacteria, insects, plant diseases, snails, slugs, or weeds, among others.

Herbicides are used to kill undesirable plants or weeds. Herbicides are a form of pesticides. Some herbicides can be toxic to humans and wildlife; others have less impact. Which are carcinogen or possible carcinogen. Like Round-Up which Monsanto is now paying many lawsuits because they never stated how dangerous it was.

"For the health and safety for our children, we need your support in urging school and park district officials to consider natural lawn care practices.
