Make our voices heard about Broadbridge Heath road closure
This petition had 3,769 supporters
This petition has been created for people to voice their frustration and concerns about the permanent road closure of the A281 Broadbridge Heath by-pass.
The result of this closure has led to local country roads being used as a short cut for cars and lorries, increasing traffic considerably on roads which in places are not passable by 2 cars.
The traffic in Broadbridge Heath is now even more busy, causing a bottle neck with traffic only able to enter / exit the village via Broadbridge Heath Road (towards Warnham) and the Old Guildford Road towards Farthing Hill Interchange.
Local businesses have been badly affected with a drop in foot fall and delivery lorries having to take unsuitable detours.
The closure of Broadbridge Heath has led to a permanent car being placed near Shelley Drive roundabout to "police" the access, allowing only buses to pass and not the general public.
This survey is to help give a voice to those who have been affected by the closure and subsequent detours. People who may not have been originally consulted, those who live outside of the area but use the roads or those who have moved to the area after approval was given.

West Sussex County Council have shut the main A281 Broadbridge Heath by-pass from Newbridge Roundabout up to the Tesco Superstore roundabout resulting in traffic not permitted to drive to the Farthings Hill interchange.
Traffic has instead been redirected on to the A264 Five Oaks Road around Wickhurst Green and rejoining A24 at Highwood Mill. Access has also been stopped (except for buses) into Broadbridge Heath from the Newbridge Roundabout, cutting off access from that end of the village.
The principal of closing / downgrading the A264 was established as part of the 2007 Core Strategy (the local plan) to create one community between the old and new BBH.
However since then more houses have been built making the desire of joining communities impossible due to the size and scale of new developments. The road closure is instead cutting off access to communities and increasing traffic on country roads.
