This is my son Harry , from 4 Months old he suffered massive seizures which caused irreparable damage to his brain , left him with cerebral palsy, Hypercusis and a learning , emotion and social delay .He is due to transition to High School in August and i applied for a place at an additional needs school and West Lothian Council have decided he should attend Mainstream .Although devasted I worked with the council to help him transition with his friends to Mainstream high school , this started last year .Each time he has transitioned to the mainstream High School he has struggled greatly and this has put so much strain on his wee body and he has had to take naps during the school day .He was promised a full time advanced support worker which now has been turned into just using the ones the school already has which is 4 workers for 1200 pupils so he will be moved between them all during the school day .Everytime he walks into the school building his behaviour changes he becomes stressed and anxious , as his mother this is horrific to watch as I know I am sending him somewhere that terrifies now .And now he doesn't feel safe in his own primary school and refused everyday to go .a Few weeks back he attended the High School for a weeks transition .This took a massive toll on his wee body and by Thursday he had to be rushed by ambulance to hospital .In the past month his seizures have massively increased even though he's on a massive amount of anti- seizure medication .He's become untrusting to everyone around him and asks me has he done something so wrong to be treating this way .This is proof he can't cope .In the past his seizures have caused brain damage and I have sat as his bedside and watched his life slowly slip away and I will not do this again !
