Apologize for the cartoon and implement diversity guidelines

The Issue

The Toronto Sun published a racist cartoon of Olivia Chow, 2014 Toronto Mayoral Candidate. It's 2014, not 1885. This kind of commentary is not acceptable. The depiction of Olivia Chow with slanty eyes and dressed in a Mao outfit is blatently racist. It is offensive to all Canadians and our values of inclusion. It is xenophobic.

Olivia Chow has had a respectable and very long career in Canadian politics. She deserves and apology from the Toronto Sun for publishing and distributing this to Canadians. Canadians, and specifically Chinese-Canadians, deserve an apology as well.

The fact that this cartoon went through levels of management and editorial staff is particularly alarming. Something needs to be done to ensure that this never happens again.
