This proposal to Wembury Parish Council will have a decision made on it next week!! The company proposing the mast apparently gave the parish councillors a 1 month deadline to confirm if they wish to proceed!!! This means that despite the lack of proper consultation with all residents/school/preschool, at the next Parish Council meeting on 28th November (7.30pm in Village Hall), they will decide if this is going ahead, and based on the conversations so far, they are in favour of this proposal. Please attend this meeting if you can to get yourself heard by the people making this decision on 'our behalf'! Unless residents voice their objections formally via the Wembury Parish Councils website; www.wemburyparishcouncil.info before this meeting, then the decision will be taken on what feedback they have had formally so far!! So please, please, please, if you have objections, write to them via their 'Your Views' page on the website. Please send this round to anyone you feel this concerns. As many people know there has been a lot of research into the health effects of people in the vicinity of cell masts supporting both sides of the argument, however there still remains uncertainty to the long term effects on children exposed to this form of microwave radiation and that a pre-cautionary approach should be taken until more research is completed. The differences in bone density and the amount of fluid in a child’s brain compared to an adult’s could allow children to absorb greater quantities of microwave radiation deeper into their brains. The health affects not only could cause an increase risk of cancer later in life but also many physiological effects including headaches, tiredness, behaviour changes and concentration which could all adversely affect our Children’s education. Whilst supporters of this mast will argue that WiFi in Schools presents the same risks, the affects of radiation from the proposed mast will compound the radiation that currently exists. as the effects are cumulative. If this mast is installed at this proximity to the school/preschool, the pupils and teachers will have no choice, for a number of years, in what they are being exposed to. Whereas the use of WiFi and Mobile Phones can be avoided (e.g. Wired network). I think this paper is an interesting read from the EM Radiation Research Trust regarding base stations and the effect of a cell mast on the residents of a small village of Wishaw. Seven years after the installation of a cell mast 77% of the residents (18 Houses within 500m of the mast) had adverse health affects: http://www.radiationresearch.org/.../20061101_base... I believe that process of public consultation that has taken place so far has been completely inadequate, having only taken place by form of letter to a few residents. The council have been in discussions with Shared Access since the middle of October!. Shared Access have employed a company of Planning Consultants to handle the planning process, 'The Pegasus Group. This group were responsible for an inital consultation process which involved sending out letters to residents 'affected', this did not appear to include all those who send their children to the school and preschool. This 'consultation process' via the Pegasus Group, ended on 17th November! to which no one has been able to respond. The school had not received any form of formal communication from them on this, neither the preschool or scout group either, despite the fact that they are the organisations most affected by the proposed location of this mast. The location has been selected by Shared Access as they are an organisation who provide masts primarily to sporting organisations/ locations (to support government initiatives to rollout nationwide 4G technologies), and combine the offer with floodlights as a 'benefit' for the club/sporting venue! The need for floodlighting has not been established within Wembury, by the parish councillors. But it appears that an offer of this magnitude may be enough to persuade them on this location!
