We are outraged that the Welsh Government has chosen to fly its flag at half mast to publicly honour the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, the brutal dictator of a regime which carried out more public beheadings last year than ISIS, publicly flogs dissidents and imprisons women for the crime of driving a car.

We believe that the Welsh government has shown a serious error of judgement and stained the reputation of Wales.

We call upon Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales to immediately issue a public statement -

1. Apologising to the people of Wales for associating us with a dictatorship.
2. Condemning the Saudi regime
3. Offering support and solidarity from the people of Wales to Saudi democracy and human rights activists.
4. Calling for the immediate release of Saudi blogger Raif Badawi

Note: The authoritarian regime ruling Saudi Arabia has one of the worst human rights records in the world, consistently ranking among the "worst of the worst" in Freedom House's annual survey of political and civil rights.
