WELLINGTON LOOKING TO INTRODUCE TOURIST 'BED TAX' Wellington is looking at following Auckland's lead by introducing a controversial "bed tax" that could see the cost of hotels go up across the city. Tourism groups say the measure is "double dipping" and will put off investors, but Wellington City Council sees it as a way to ease the burden on ratepayers. Capital rates are expected to increase by an average 4.3 per cent, but Wellington Mayor Justin Lester's ambition is to get that down to 3.9 per cent..... https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/101942808/wellington-looking-to-introduce-tourist-bed-tax
