CALL TO ACTION!  THIS IS A LETTER/EMAIL WRITING CAMPAIGN TO ELECTED OFFICIALS TO STOP THE TRANSFER FACILITY!

Please share this post on your facebook wall, in your facebook groups, on other social medial platforms and print and share with people who are not online!

We believe our local leaders truly care about this community and want to do what’s right.

Right now, they may not fully realize just how strongly residents oppose the proposed waste/recycling transfer facility.

From what we are seeing and hearing across Hayes Township and Clare County, opposition to this facility is widespread and growing.

Once our elected officials realize that most of the residents do not want this facility here, we believe they will uphold their promise to us and represent our needs and wants in this matter.

GFL GM has told us that if we do not want this facility here, they will put it elsewhere.  Our elected officials just need to know for sure that the majority of residents DO NOT WANT THIS HERE.

HERE’S THE KEY INFORMATION TO UNDERSTAND AT THIS STAGE:
This project ONLY moves forward if BOTH the Township and County maintain their letters of support.

If both or even ONE of those letters are withdrawn, the project stops at this early stage!
That means your voice matters more than ever RIGHT NOW.

PLEASE VOICE YOUR CONCERNS SO THE DECISION MAKERS UNDERSTAND THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE ARE OPPOSED TO THIS FACILITY.  We need EVERYONE to do ONE of these:

1.  EMAIL THE DECISION MAKERS (Hayes Township Board and Zoning as well as Clare County Commissioners)

Copy and paste these email addresses in the header of your email, preferably BCC.  This is a list of emails to our Hayes Township Board and Zoning and Clare County Commissioners:

and

HERE IS A SAMPLE MESSAGE YOU CAN USE AS A TEMPLATE OR, EVEN BETTER, WRITE YOUR OWN LETTER.

Dear Hayes Township Board Members, Zoning Administrator, and Clare County Commissioners,

I am writing to you as a member of your community that cares deeply about Hayes Township.  Many of you have lived here for years, raised families here, and have worked hard to serve this area with integrity. That commitment has not gone unnoticed, and it is truly appreciated.  The citizens elected you because we trust that you will represent our voices and have our best interests in mind.

I understand that the letters of support for the proposed GFL Waste/Recycling Transfer Facility were given with the intention of encouraging economic growth and doing what is best for the community. I believe that intention was sincere.

However, as more information has come to light and as more residents have become aware of this project, it has become clear that there is significant and widespread concern among the people who live and work here. MOST residents feel strongly that this type of facility, especially in the proposed location near homes and local businesses, would negatively impact property values, quality of life, and the overall character of our area.

Hayes Township is known for its clean environment, natural beauty, and appeal to residents, visitors, and small businesses. These are the very qualities that support long-term economic growth, and this facility will ruin this appeal and impact our environment.

Neighbors, residents, local business owners, and property owners across the area are becoming aware of this proposed facility, and the overwhelming sentiment is concern and opposition. Many more voices will continue to come forward as awareness grows.  With that in mind, I respectfully ask that you WITHDRAW YOUR LETTERS OF SUPPORT for this project at this early stage so that no more time, energy, and resources are spent on a facility that the community does not want.

We also want to acknowledge that County Commissioner and GFL General Manager Rick Fancon stated that if the community does not want this facility here, it will not be built in this location.  We appreciate that commitment to listening to the community, and we believe that this moment presents an opportunity for all involved to reassess since a very large majority of the community does not want this facility here.

Thank you for your time and service.  We trust that you will represent our desires in this matter.

Thank you for listening to the people you represent.
(YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS)

PLEASE KEEP ALL COMMUNICATION RESPECTFUL!
Our goal is to be heard — not to attack. Respectful messages are far more effective and will help our voices carry more weight.
