Thank you so much for signing and sharing this petition! We now have over 300,000 signatures!
So much has happened since I last published an update that my head is spinning. Rachel Maddow obtained two pages of Trump's federal tax return from 2005. Unfortunately, we need to review Trump's ENTIRE tax return, including all schedules and attachments, to learn more about his possible conflicts-of-interest.
The photo is real. Trump sent this out while campaigning last year, depicting what he claimed was the stack of papers in his tax return. But, to date, he hasn't released any of his returns.
Without reviewing his entire tax returns from the past decade, we can't see who Trump owes money to, who his business partners are and if he has financial entanglements with foreign governments, like Russia.
As you surely know, the House Intelligence Committee has begun its investigation into Russia's hack of our election and Trump's ties to Russia. James Comey, the FBI director, testified that the bureau is indeed investigating possible connections between President Trump’s campaign and Russia’s efforts to sabotage Hillary Clinton. The investigation began in July 2016.
But yesterday, House Intelligence Committee chair Devin Nunes undermined the credibility of his committee's investigation by meeting with the President and giving him information that he thought would help him! This is not the non-partisan, ethical behavior you would expect from the man overseeing the investigation.
In light of this, I think we should all call our House representatives and ask them to form a bipartisan select committee to investigate Trump. You may want to tell them:
1) Chairman Nunes of the House Intelligence Committee has undermined the credibility of his committee's investigation. He cannot be trusted to lead an unbiased investigation of Trump/Russia connections.
2) In light of this, please advocate for a bipartisan select committee to investigate the Russian hacking of our presidential election and President Trump's ties to Russia.
3) Once named, the bipartisan select committee should subpoena Trump's tax returns to learn about his business and financial ties to Russia and other foreign nations.
