This is big! From a Money/CNN story, attached below: Last week, Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, sent a letter to the committee's chairman, Kevin Brady (R-TX), requesting that he ask the secretary of the Treasury for President Trump's tax returns from the past 10 years. Turns out there's a rarely used provision in the law that says that either the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee or the Joint Committee on Taxation may request ANYONE'S tax returns to examine -- including the president's -- from the secretary of the Treasury. The request can be kept secret. Congressman Brady could share Trump's returns with his committee members only in closed session. And, the committee could decide to release the returns to the full House and Senate, without Trump's consent, if they deem that it's in the public interest. That would effectively make Trump's tax returns public. To date, Brady has not responded to Pascrell's request. Let's put some pressure on Congressman Brady. Please call the House Ways and Means Committee at (202) 225-3625 and say something polite, like the following: I strongly support Congressman Pascrell's request that Chairman Brady get President Trump's tax returns from the past 10 years. Americans deserve to know if Trump's loans and business partnerships around the world present conflicts of interest. I want my president to make decisions based on what's best for America, not what's best for his personal business interests. Thank you! If you can't get through, keep trying. Or send a fax to (202) 225-2610.
