Uncomfortable with the idea of canvassing? That’s fair! The idea of the group canvass is that people with less experience or less confidence can go out with a group, hang back if they want to get a feel for how the interactions go and start jumping in if and when you start feeling comfortable. You don’t have to know all the answers, it’s likely that someone in your group can fill in the gaps. Your group doesn’t even have to have all the answers. “I don’t know, could I find out the answer and follow up with you?” is a perfectly valid response.
Also, based on my experience talking to folks over the summer, I don’t think you’ll find very many Flock supporters to have difficult conversations with. Even for people without a strong opinion, most think that having the ability to vote on an issue that affects their community is generally a good thing.
We hope to see you Sunday!
