Hello Petition Supporters,

The Decision Maker team here at Change.org reached out to Brevard County officials. Our team makes sure petitions like this one are seen by the right decision maker and to help encourage engagement with supporters like you.

They provided a number of documents with summaries around the issue and contract negotiations. Here is a summary of the Office's Response:

According to a Brevard County official, the County has made multiple attempts to resume negotiations with union representatives since the IAFF declared an impasse on October 15, 2024. A negotiation session is now scheduled for Friday, February 21, 2025, with a Special Magistrate hearing set for March 3rd and 4th.

Key details from the latest contract proposal from Brevard County (dated February 3, 2025) include:

- Proposed wage increases, with comparisons to previous offers.
- A wage re-opener for years 2-3 of the contract, allowing further negotiations on pay adjustments.
- The introduction of “Kelly Days,” a structured work schedule aimed at improving work-life balance. These would be implemented in phases based on staffing levels.

The County has stated that its goal is to reach an agreement and has outlined a timeline of efforts to engage with the union since the impasse declaration.

At this time, the most recent union proposal submitted during mediation in January has not been publicly released. The County has stated that it has no objections if the union elects to share it.
