Hi everyone,

As you know that there is so much death and destruction it's nearly impossible to keep up with every tragic event/post updates on them. As the signatures begin to stagger (especially after Change.org removed this petition from their site without citing a reason/restored it after I appealed the removal), I'm providing an update from Reuters on 12/29/23 (included below email update).

In the meantime, we need a lot more signatures before sending to POTUS/the White House in order to have maximum impact. Ideally we would hit 100k in 30 days (which is 2.5 weeks away from when the petition was started) but at this rate, it doesn't seem probable. That being said, the U.S. Government & POTUS need to understand how many of us oppose what they're doing with our tax dollars while simultaneously ignoring our demands for a ceasefire.

President Biden has already bypassed congress to ensure Israel can get unfettered access to more weaponry, and in case you haven't heard, Israel bombed Bethlehem on Christmas day--a horrifying thing already, but also important to note that Bethlehem is in the West Bank, so they aren't even trying to hide their lack of precision, and they aren't just trying to get Hamas in Gaza. It is clear that their intentions are to decimate any and every area they feel like, and to kill/injure/displace as many Palestinians as possible, without consequence. This is unacceptable.

Over 20k Palestinians have been killed since October 7th, we should at least be able to get 20k signatures. Please share this petition far and wide so we can try and reach that goal, and since the situation gets worse by the day, let's do it sooner than 2 weeks from now, at which point the number of lives lost could be double.

Thank you in advance and, as always, Free Palestine,

Jessica

People work to rescue Palestinian girl Mariam Abu Akel, who is alive, from under the rubble of a house hit by an Israeli strike in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, December 29, 2023. Rescuers in orange vests shouted as they reached her in the rubble after another night of bombardment of the Palestinian enclave. Her skin was grey with dust and she made little noises as the rescuers worked to free her legs and lift her clear of the rubble.

People crowded around in the ruins of the Abu Edwan family's house, where Mariam's family had been sheltering after they fled their own home in a more dangerous area near Gaza's border with Israel. The air strike killed 20 people and wounded 55, according to Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra.
