Since the Opryland theme park was closed in 1997, Nashville has grown exponentially in popularity, population, and tourist trade.  It follows that it is time to reopen the Opryland amusement park in Nashville.  The new Opryland could be built in the closed Cornelia Fort Airpark, right across the river from the Opry Mills shopping mall. The family amusement park should retain the "Opryland" name, as per the original park that was opened in 1972 - the dream of Grand Ole Opry legend Roy Acuff, as he told me personally. The park would provide hundreds of jobs and boost the profits of the Grand Ole Opry, Opry Mills, and Opryland Hotel. Musical shows would provide the launching pad for young, new performers - such as the original Opryland did for comedienne Chonda Pierce. We need Opryland again!
