Below, for those of you who might like to see it, I have posted the official US Preventive Service Task Force recommendation to doctors & health care providers to use PrEP as the first line in preventing HIV transmission in the USA. This recommendation will be presented to the House Subcommittee on Health in the coming months. The CDC has endorsed PrEP and also found that its use to prevent HIV does NOT lessen safer sex practices among its users. In other words-- it ADDS a layer of protection for those at risk for contracting HIV, 100% if used properly-- and BTW the "at risk" population is more diverse than you might expect. But as you might expect-- it is less white, less rich, not gender-binary-- and women aren't sufficiently protected. Gee. Wonder why it always seems to be THAT way,

This petition is meant to lobby congress to make PrEP part of the ACA's Healthcare Policy so it is available ESPECIALLY for those who can't afford it-- plus all who would benefit from it (the entire country, both economically & socially). I want our petition to get 525,600 signatures so congress will put PrEP on the front lines of its education, media & healthcare messaging. And also so our candidates can debate it in the upcoming election campaign. I know there's a lot going on in the world. Famine in Yemen. Corruption in the White House. The Super Bowl-- so how can YOU measure your life this year? Your signature and YOU reaching out to others to sign, will bring attention to HIV prevention!

'RENT' was on tv last night, well and good. I lived through the real RENT, it wasn't so well and good, or hopeful. WE lost thousands of our youngest and brightest. Many were my friends. 30 years later WE can save thousands. WE can save lives. Please consider taking one of those "525,600 minutes" (divided by 365 divided by 24 divided by 60) to do ONE THING that makes a profound difference in the world.
