Hi LISD Petition Supporters,
Just wanted to share what happen at the board meeting Monday night. We were able to share 577 proof of signatures, thanks to each of you. Five parents spoke about several issues concerning Superintendent Wilcox and several issues concerning board members. Concerns included, a board member not paying his property taxes for years on multiple properties in Longview, yet votes to impose tax rates and bonds on LISD taxpayers. Another, board member that owns a insurance company and each year since appointed his insurance income increases due to LISD purchasing policy coverages from him. Is this ethical?
4 reporters were present- 3 news stations and our local Longview News Journal.
At this highly factual meeting, the school board also voted on a 2.5M settlement to the families of special needs children abused at the hands of six LISD employees. LISD does not want these videos to surface for the public.
So many negative liabilities have happened in LISD this past 12 months, listed in this petition. Guess what, still no action and we have no faith that this current school board will take action to remove 11+ year PART-TIME Superintendent Wilcox.
The school board prior also allowed part-time @20 hours per week employment and now this Superintendent has become an expensive liability to Longview! Plus, he continues to receive income from LISD from his multi-level marketing side business that was banned within LISD 2015, not to mention the other full-time benefits he continues to gain.
Thank each of you for your valuable time. Only time will tell if this school board even cares about many LISD taxpaying parents concerns. No worries, many in this community are already grooming community leaders to run for school board in the next election in 2023. We deserve better!
Thank each of your for you concerns and support.
Sincerely,
Debbie Fontaine
