� Victoria needs a public housing system that puts people before profit! �
Here in the seat of Northcote two public housing estates have been demolished since the last election, and in Darebin public housing dwellings have fallen from 4,000 in 2010 to 2,800 in 2018.
The Labor government caved to property developers and scrapped its plan to make them pay for more affordable housing, and has sold off public housing to developers.
The Greens believe that public land and housing assets set aside for public housing must be retained in public ownership, not privatised, and that public land that is suitable for public and community housing should not be sold.
� We need housing that meets the needs of people on low incomes and people with insecure tenures who are at risk of homelessness.
� We need mandatory inclusionary zoning in all residential growth zones, activity centres and large apartment blocks.
Under our housing plan, the Greens are pushing for
� 100,000 new public homes to be built in Victoria in the next decade.
� 100,000 new affordable homes for first home buyers
� Limiting rent increases to the wage price index which is currently 2.5%
