Since Stephen McNeil and Patricia Arab chose not to freeze rents at the start of the pandemic, tenants continued to receive outrageous rent increases. An additional $200 a month or **SEVEN HUNDRED** dollars more if tenants choose to exercise their legal right to switch to a month-to-month lease. We are the only Province in the COUNTRY that doesn't have some sort of rent cap or control.
How is any tenant supposed to plan for this?? Especially during a pandemic, this is an effective eviction.
