After evidencing that #EnergyFraud social media posts were being heavily filtered (censored), a series of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests have illuminated the involvement of government censorship.

Despite a denial of any involvement from UK Government's Counter Disinformation Unit (CDU), received in response to an April 2024 FOI request, an FOI request served on DESNZ in August 2024 received a response that included interdepartmental emails with BEIS confirming the CDU's involvement.

The CDU has blocked the ministerial briefing sent to Ed Miliband on 12.07.24 (see copy in previous update in this petition site) and is insisting that only 'standard lines to be used' in any response.

The wider question here is, given the 2024 evidence provided to the Post Office Inquiry, that BEIS stated in 2019 that the Post Office case risked a 'public relations disaster', and given that BEIS (Secretary Of State For The Department of Business and Trade) is the primary shareholder of Post Office Ltd, and given that the CDU came into existence in under BEIS in 2019, it is highly likely that prominent, campaigning subpostmasters were also targeted for censorship by the CDU.
