I will try to sort this our properly now. As you may be aware, Amnesty International is organised in more than 150 countries around the world. We are structured as national entities called Sections with a central governance and research arm of the organisation based in an International Secretariat which has a main office in London as well as regional hubs around the world. The strength of Amnesty’s work lies in the veracity and authority of our research and campaigning demands. As such, international campaigns and individual cases are researched and identified by the relevant teams at our International Secretariat. It is simply not within our brief as a national entity to take up a case that has not been verified by the International Secretariat. Therefore, I am referring your email on to our team that covers the Middle East and North Africa. They are experts on the region including Saudi Arabia. They will know all the ins and outs of the law in Saudi and will be able to best advise you on how to take the case of the young woman you have identified forward. I assure you I am not trying to put you off. Amnesty does in fact take on individual cases. There are protocols for such but the IS team can fill you in on those better than I can. I will send on your details and email to my colleagues in London and I will follow up with them to ensure they get back to you in a timely manner. Again I am sorry you have encountered difficulties in promoting the case of the young Saudi woman. It is activists like you who ensure that human rights remains on the agenda. Without people like you, human rights and women’s rights could never have made the progress we have seen to date. But we have a very long way to go yet. Don’t lose hope. You are on the right path. "I have already forwarded on your email to my colleagues in London and I will follow up with a call to them on Monday. I have asked them to contact you directly but to copy me in so that we can all remain in the loop and ensure you get the information you need. " I am feeling a bit positive but I want to keep them on their toes. A resolution is needed. Justice is needed. Not only from Amnesty but from every insitution that should be held accountable.
