Your Voice is needed and "NOW" for Olympic Peninsula wild steelhead!

Hi All, Last year you all helped instigate change to protect the Olympic Peninsula's wild steelhead populations. I delivered all of your signatures and comments last Feb. during a Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife meeting. And when I broke out the 50 pages of comments and 2300 signatures you could hear a pin drop. We got there attention!! Every 3 years we have the opportunity to submit rule change proposals for our Washington fisheries and this past year rule changes on the Olympic Peninsula have been going on with the guidance of 2 work groups (which I got rejected from) and the determination and persistence of the Wild Steelhead Coalition and Trout Unlimited . My good friend and mentor John McMillan has been working his tail off this year exposing all parties of interest to the science and the reality of potential wild steelhead collapse if changes are not made. The Commercial fishery has been taking it's toll and over harvest of the resource has been a sad reality we all witness but it is us anglers that can step up to the plate and demand change for better conservation and set an example that we want a future with wild steelhead in it. Let's all take the high road and do what is best for the fish! After all without the fish we will not be fishing. There is tremendous opposition from the angling community about these rule proposals. Thank you so much for your support, Shane Anderson Please take a few minutes to send a comment to the WDFW that you support these rule proposals: Rule #48: Prohibit the harvest of all wild steelhead and rainbow trout on select OP rivers such as the Hoh, Bogachiel, and Sol Duck. Rule #47: Implement selective gear rules such as barbless hooks and no bait during winter months on select OP rivers in order to protect juvenile steelhead, salmon, and trout. Rule #46: Implement “no fishing from a floating device” rules on select OP rivers to protect holding and spawning adult steelhead and salmon.
