St. John's Primary School and Nursery has been without a crossing patrol for a while now. Warwickshire County Council
recently undertook a site survey and made the decision that a school crossing patrol is not needed. This is a very disappointing decision which could severely compromise the safety of our children, as the School, Nursery and Children's Centre is situated on a very busy road. Mortimer Road is used as a rat-run by drivers wanting to avoid the main Warwick Road through Kenilworth. Large lorries make deliveries to the convenience store and chip shop adjacent to the school and pedestrians view of the busy crossroad junction of Mortimer Road, Roseland Road and St. Nicholas Avenue is obstructed. Double decker buses also travel past the school.  We urge Warwickshire County Council to reconsider this terrible decision and reinstate the school crossing patrol, install a crossing or reduce the speed limit.
