Give audiences the option to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in IMAX 2D (not just IMAX 3D ).

The Issue

A movie many have been waiting years for, is finally coming. Two of the biggest comic book characters ever are going to "duke it out" on the big screen in May of 2016. Many viewers want to see this movie on the biggest and grandest scale possible, and being that most of BvS will be shot using 70mm IMAX film cameras, the movie will certainly look large. Unfortunately, based on past occurrences it seems as though BvS will be post converted to 3D, thus making all large-format IMAX screenings 3D. This deprives anyone who prefers 2D over 3D from experiencing the film in IMAX.
This petition is requesting that IMAX and Warner Brothers Studios distribute to audiences and avid DC comics fans alike, the option of attending 2D IMAX screenings (preferably in 70mm), giving viewers the option of seeing the film in the format which most closely reflects that in which it was produced.

The grand scale that films shot using IMAX cameras have has been seen in films like Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It would be an incredible shame for a film that is arguably the biggest spectacle ever to be released, to be limited to a format that converts the beauty these cameras produce into a 3D image. Like the previously mentioned films, Batman v Superman should be seen in it native format.

Despite an early internet release of the trailer for this movie, fans flocked to the IMAX trailer event to see it on the big screen. This event was presented in 2D, and despite most fans having already seen the trailer at home, the response from those at the event was positive. Many commented on how seeing the trailer in IMAX was like watching a whole new trailer. This is the affect an IMAX filmed movie, shown in it's true format produces.

Due to the 3D post-conversion, every screening at an IMAX theater would feature the 3D up charge, image strobing, dimly lit visuals, and occasional headaches for some people, that accompany any 3D screening. For those reasons and others, many filmgoers and fans prefer to see their films in 2D, not 3D. This petition is to not only give audiences the option of seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in an IMAX theater in 2D, but to also encourage IMAX and any film that is released in large format theaters to give viewers the option of seeing films in 2D and 3D via alternating screenings. It is also to encourage the use of 70mm IMAX theaters for BvS, so the audiences can experience both the best in cinema, and the original intent for the film.
