There is present danger for pedestrians and automobile traffic at the intersection of W. Diversey Ave. and N. Avers Avenue.  As residents of Ward 30th and Ward 31st, we are petitioning the city officials for a traffic control at this unsafe intersection.

Our main concern is the vehicular and pedestrian traffic safety. It is the main crossing for children from the north side of the neighborhood to access Kosciuszko Park. This year alone there have been at least seven car accidents and one incident of a pedestrian being struck by a speeding vehicle. 

On Saturday, October 14th two vehicles involved in a collision caused severe damage to our business property located at 3832 W. Diversey Avenue. Then again, on October 19th our parked van was completely totaled due to a second car collision involving five vehicles. Though we know that these damages can be fixed or replaced, we want to prevent further damages and most importantly, a fatality. 

We fear for the safety of our customers, neighbors and children. We petition, the Department of Transportation and the City of Chicago for a controlled stop at this dangerous intersection.
