So we know that motor vehicles are more damaging to the environment than a train service but the government is blinkered on this issue to reopen Wantage and Grove Station.

The average petrol car emits 0.17431 kg CO2e vs National rail train 0.03549 kg CO2e

Therefore, an average car emits nearly 5 times more CO2 into our environment.
