President Joko Widodo recently visited Wake and reports are that plans are in the making to build bigger pool on the land behind the resort with the government taking 40% stake. This is setting a bad precedent and helping promote the captive dolphin industry. There is also urgent need for an independent vet assessment by marine mammal experts as dolphins have cloudy eyes, bad skin irritation and are toothless. Siti, the Environment Minister claims they are healthy, and the Director General orders the half blind one to be replaced with a new one! Outrageous. We need to keep up the pressure on the Indonesian government to get independent assessment.
