In 2020 you signed our petition to stop a co-governed marine exclusion zone being imposed around Waiheke Island. Your support was a key factor in successfully blocking this attack on our democratic rights. 

We are pleased to advise that The Friends of the Hauraki Gulf society have submitted a science- based application for a marine reserve on the north west corner of our island. You can view their information here:  https://friendsofhaurakigulf.nz/

This marine reserve is strictly "no take" meaning that it is fair for everyone. We are confident that, if approved, it would be a tremendous asset for Waiheke Island and another step to restoring the Hauraki Gulf to a splendid ecological asset.
