Dear Supporters,
A lot has happened since we launched this petition, and it’s clearer than ever that the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) is in a state of crisis. The very people standing up for integrity and free speech within the Federation are being systematically targeted.
Rich Cooke, Chair of the West Midlands branch, was hauled before a kangaroo court under PFEW’s disciplinary system and handed a 12-month ban from standing for any “public-facing principal roles.”
Rick Prior, Chair of the Met Police branch, continues to face persecution and has now had to crowdfund for legal action with the support of the Free Speech Union. You can read more and support him here.
Steve Hartshorn, the National Chair, remains suspended since September 2024 over nonsensical allegations.
And they’re not alone. Other Federation officials are also enduring the injustice of the Federation’s broken disciplinary system—Appendix 9—which has become nothing more than a tool to silence dissent.

We Need a Final Push
Despite everything that has happened, our petition is still gaining momentum—but we need a focused effort to get it in front of as many people as possible.

- Send it to your colleagues, friends, and family.
- Print it out and put it on police station walls or wherever!
This situation cannot continue. The more signatures we gather, the louder and clearer the message: Enough is enough!
