Living in Cornelius, NC means enjoying the serene charm of our town, combined with the sense of security and community including places like Ramsey Park. It's more than just a neighborhood; it's a safe haven for families like mine and my dear friends, who cherish the tranquility and safety we've built here. Every day, children gleefully play, families bike, and residents stroll along the streets, embracing the peaceful lifestyle we have cultivated.

However, the proposed event venue, known as REZ 02-25, threatens this quality of life. The prospect of increased traffic on our roads, especially with the knowledge that alcohol will be served at these events, generates genuine concern for safety. My friend’s grandchild lives right at the entrance of the proposed venue space—every day, she plays in her yard or rides her bike on our peaceful street. The thought of any threat to her safety due to an inebriated driver is terrifying for her family and all of us who care deeply about this community.

Ramsey Park, the heartbeat of our community, could suffer adverse effects if the venue introduces higher traffic and noise levels. The serene environment that families rely on for recreation, picnics, and peaceful gatherings could be compromised. It’s about preserving the unique character of Cornelius, protecting our children, and maintaining the quality of life that makes our town feel like home.

The town board must oppose this proposal to ensure that our community’s safety and peace remain intact. The increased risk is unnecessary and preventable by voting NO to REZ 02-25.
