It is extremely disappointing that the California Assembly passed ACA-5 on June 10th. The bill will go to the California State Senate next. We must urge the following three senators to make a decision that a hearing for ACA-5 should be held in the Committee on Education before it goes into senate floor voting.
Rules Committee:
1) Senator Toni Atkins: (most important)
️916-651-4039
️619-645-3133
Education Committee:
2) Senator Connie Leyva
️916-651-4020
️909-469-1110
3) Senator Scott Wilk
️916-651-4021
️760-843-8343
Sample talking points:
My name is xx from xx city. I have heard that a bill named ACA5 just passed the assembly and is now headed towards the senate. As an American believing that every person should be treated equally regardless of race or gender, I strongly oppose this bill. This bill is discriminatory and will negatively impact all californians’ equal education rights. We strongly urge the senate to hold a hearing at the Committee on Education so that people’s concerns can be heard.
Thank you!
