ACA-5 will go to the Assembly's Appropriations Committee for another round of hearing and voting late this month. This will be our last chance to stop it before it enters CA Assembly for floor voting.

Honorable Assembly Member:

I am writing to urge you to vote NO on ACA-5, which is coming up in one of the Appropriations Committee hearings. This bill is an attempt to insert race and gender in state university admissions and public employment opportunities. Giving racial and gender preferences to certain groups is just another form of discrimination. It not only is unconstitutional, but also diminishes the hard-earned accomplishments of minority groups to mere results of preferential treatment.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are in dire need to move in a swift and united way to tackle the many issues that are threatening Californians’ health, safety and livelihood. We don’t need a racist and sexist bill to further divide our state and divert our dwindling resources.

Please vote NO on ACA-5. Our community is counting on you to protect our rights and future.

Sincerely,

3.  Call them

Hello, my name is [name] from [city].

I am calling to express my OPPOSITION to a bill called ACA-5 which will be voted on in one of the Appropriations Committee hearings. ACA-5 is an attempt to insert race and gender in state university admissions and public employment opportunities. Giving racial and gender preferences to certain groups is just another form of discrimination. It is unconstitutional, and on top of that, makes the hard-earned accomplishments of minority groups look like a result of preferential treatment.

The COVID-19 pandemic is threatening Californians’ health, safety and livelihood. We are looking at an unprecedented budget deficit. We don’t need a racist and sexist bill to further divide our state and divert our dwindling resources.

Please vote NO on ACA-5. Our community is counting on you to protect our rights and future.

Thank you for your time, and have a great day!
