The National Public Hearing on the Constitution review, held on the 22nd of September, 2025 at the Transcorp Hilton and was a resounding victory due to the inclusive voices and participation of every stakeholder regardless of affiliation, class, status or ability. It was a representation of collective voices. Congratulations to all NGOs, WROs and citizens.
HEIR Women Hub was represented by the Reserved Seats Bill Advocacy Group Volunteers engaging and supporting the process (see our update on our Meta, X and Instagram page @heirwoman).
We extend our thank you to the Sponsor of the Bill, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and the co-sponsors, for this remarkable opportunity to change the trajectory of our Nation by inclusive leadership that accounts for more women in decision making roles.
The advocacy isn’t over, voting is still pending and scheduled in October 2026 by the House of Representatives and House of Senate. We call on the President of Nigeria, his excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to keep his promise to Nigeria and her women by influencing the National Assembly, to vote unanimously and pass the Reserved Seats Bill.
At the RSBA group, activities are still ongoing- we have an open petition for signatures, welcoming more volunteers, scheduled meetings and appearances to speak on this benefits of the reserved seats bill, more knowledge-sharing sessions, more advocacy push.
The survey on the reserved seats bill is in progress, it will enable the data required to continue to make a case for this bill as we get closer to voting. Please vote, it only takes 2 mins.
Let’s keep the energy flowing strong until the reserved seats bill is passed to law.
We all matter!
With love,
RSBA Group 2025
