Change laws regarding Pet Groomers in the state of Virginia. Require that they be licensed to groom pets in Virginia. Justice for Colby who died at the hands of Petco groomers! Immediately fire the neglectful persons responsible for Colby's death!

The Issue

Justice for Colby!  Petco and other grooming facilities in this state are not required to be licensed.  There is no extensive training at all other than computer training, and as a result the health of the pets are in jeopardy.  Colby was a Golden Retriever who died of heat stroke in a drying cage.  The Petco groomers, at the West Chester Commons in Midlothian, Va, neglected Colby and left him unattended in a drying cage, as a result Colby died!  His death is a result of groomers who should not be allowed to handle pets at all!  The persons who were working that day should be fired!  Firing the persons would bring some sort of justice to Colby.  I am a former employee of that Petco and complained about the neglect I witnessed there in the grooming dept.  I was a bather.  I quit because there was no changes after my complaints to the managers and the district manager!  I was told I was a complainer!  I quit the company last year and when I quit I was so worried about the pets.  And now last month Colby died.  I remember this sweet baby and am just devastated by his death that could have been prevented if the groomers had done their jobs and checked in on him.  My concerns were never addressed when I was there!  Many of the social groups on my facebook page are familiar with this story and want change and justice for Colby.  CBS 6 Richmond interviewed me at my home and the story of Colby was on our local news station. Thurs. July 2, 2015.  People who are pet parents and love their pets, they are family members, should be aware of what is happening all around this country!  Places like Petco, Petsmart, and other facilities can groom without a license or experience!  When you drop your pet off to be groomed and you do not hear back from the groomers, be very concerned.  And....make sure the groomers are licensed and experienced.  Pets are family and passing a law to require licensed pet groomers is very important!  Do your homework!  RIP Colby
