[URGENT] Advocate for Asian American History in VA History SOLs

Hello!

I hope you all have been well. I have recently connected to Hamkae Center, an Asian American community organization in Virginia. They are currently working on supporting the inclusion of AAPI experience in Virginia History curricula through the History and Social Studies Standards of Learning (SOLs) Here is their petition, I ask that you sign on to support it. 

On a related note, there is an urgent update happening with the Virginia Board of Education (VBOE) who are in charge of the process to move the SOLs forward. The Virginia Board of Education (VBOE) has delayed the first review of the History and Social Sciences SOLs since June upon Superintendent Jillian Balow’s recommendation, and will delay again during their meeting on Wednesday Sept. 14th. This process only happens once every seven years. Delays impact teachers, students, and communities - and they need to stop.  

I ask that you fill out this form to send an email directly to the Board of Education Members to let them know how disappointing and unnecessary these delays are!
