The Issue
Our stance against induced abortion is predicated on the following truths: 1) The law of the Triune God of the Bible forbids the premeditated act of killing an innocent human being and declares such to be murder and inconsistent with His nature; 2) God is the one forming the unique individual in the womb as revealed in His Word; 3) modern embryology confirms that human life begins at conception.
Our argument is as follows:
Premise 1: An innocent human being exists in the womb of a woman from the point of conception.
Premise 2: Intending to kill an innocent human being is always wrong.
Premise 3: Induced abortion intends to kill the innocent human being in the womb.
Conclusion: Induced abortion is always wrong.
Proverbs 24:11 says: "Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter".
According to the American College of Pediatricians, "The predominance of human biological research confirms that human life begins at conception—fertilization".
The answer to crisis pregnancy situations is never induced abortion. Rather, it is the love, support, and resources that the Church, family, community, and crisis pregnancy centers can and should provide. Indeed, widespread declarations such as the Dublin Declaration, composed after a 2012 international symposium in Ireland, and signed by over 1,000 medical professionals, states that induced abortion is never necessary to save the life of the mother.
Killing innocent human beings is against God's law and is, therefore, murder. Every day in the United States over 3,000 babies are killed in their mother's womb via the various methods of induced abortion. These human beings, substantiated as such through the discipline of modern embryology, are denied all rights of personhood as defined in the 5th and 14th Amendments of the United States Constitution. Moreover, the mothers of these children are often driven to regret, suicidal and addictive tendencies, and poorer quality of life.
