Let's stop the abolition of the Youth Courts in Italy!

I ask a few minutes of your attention for a matter of great importance to which the press is dealing with very small attention: draft law (whereby “reform”) of the Italian Minister of Justice Andrea Orlando, which is currently under discussion by the Justice Commission of the Senate, contains a section on a modification of the Juvenile Justice which it provides the abolition of the Youth Courts.
Until January 2016, the draft law seemed to go in the direction of a sort of transition from the Youth Court to a new Family Court, which would bring all the competencies on children.
Then, unexpected approval of an amendment by the Justice Commission of the Chamber of Deputies (No. 25 proposed by Deputy Ferranti) has overturned the reform, leading to abolition of the Youth Court, in favor of not specifically specified specialized sections of Ordinary Courts.
The reform, as it is currently written, is about to bring us back 50 years, just when the Italian Juvenile Justice is receiving the biggest tribute in the rest of Europe.
The reform will drastically reduce the specialization of Magistrates (both Judges and Prosecutors) dealing with children, bringing in most of Italian Courts a situation in which they will deal with delicate issues (juvenile delinquency, child sexual abuse, high-conflict separations, ill-treatment of children, ...) Magistrates who have no specialization on children issues, and who have to deal with this matter as well as road accidents, trademarks, bankruptcies, ...
When a past Minister of Justice Roberto Castelli proposed the abolition of the Youth Courts in 2003, there was a lifting of shields both in Parliament and in Media. Today, however, reform is leading its way without Media being given the right relevance.
All representations of “professionals” in Italy (Magistrates of Ordinary and of Youth Courts, Juvenile Justice’s Lawyers, Social Workers' Order, Psychologists’ Order, Associations that take part of the ONG Group for CRC in charge of monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Association of Youth growths abroad their Families Agevolando ...) took a very strong position against the abolition of the Youth Courts.
But there is a need that all common people take position, because the abolition of Youth Courts is a wound to Italy, which brings it back decades on the culture of the protection of children and adolescents!
I ASKED TO SIGN THIS PETITION TO REQUEST THE MEMBERS OF THE JUSTICE COMMISSION IN SENATE TO REMOVE FROM THE REFORM THE ARTICLES RELATING JUVENILE JUSTICE, IN ORDER TO MEET A MORE ACCURATE AND LESS HURRIED DISCUSSION.
