Dear All, In the lead up to the State election in 2014, our local State MP, Anthony Carbines promised a provision study for 3081 and 3079. This means that the Department of Education (DET) will soon begin scoping out a plan to review the basis of need for the two postcode areas as highlighted above. This is a welcome announcement and a crucial first step in ensuring that kids get access to quality, local public education. Reopen Our Schools believes that the provision plan should also include parts of 3084 and we will continue to advocate for proper provision across Banyule. Reopen Our Schools looks forward to working with members of the community, Banyule Council and the Department of Education to ensure that the provision study is completed by the end of the year. Proper planning around provision of public education should be based on facts and figures, not pork barrelling at election time. Kids in Banyule deserve to have access to local schools, local friendships and local sporting communities. It all builds for a better life in Banyule. We look forward to keeping you up to date on any developments as they come to hand. Don't forget to regularly visit our Facebook page for any developments as they come to hand.
