Please take the time to watch the video footage, it is actually a fantastic story done by Today Tonight but it only aired in South Australia. At about the 3.5 minute mark supporters of this petition (all 18,519 of you at the time of writing) might be a bit shocked to hear the etiquette expert being quoted that "It's never to early for girls to learn to moderate their behaviour" and "only a few girls aren't happy with the concept of wearing a dress to school" and messing with tradition is unnecessary. Clearly this petition shows that a LOT of people aren't happy with girls being forced to wear dresses in schools. These rigid gender stereotypes are damaging and if we ever hope to achieve gender equality across the board then we must start with our most impressionable young people.
