Do not re-categorize Lever Action Shotguns from Category A, and stop punishing law-abiding gun owners.

Do not re-categorize Lever Action Shotguns from Category A, and stop punishing law-abiding gun owners.
The issue
With the recent media releases concerning the new Adler A-110 LEVER ACTION shotgun, a massive amount of hysteria has been kicked up by the media, and several gun control groups.
They claim that a simple lever action shotgun needs to be re-classified from its current "A" category to a more controlled and harder to get "C" category.
Their arguments are based on emotion, and little fact. The claim that the shotgun is "high powered' is a fallacy; it has the same "power" as any double-barreled shotgun or lever-action shotgun currently on the market.
In addition, lever action and pump action rifles should also remain in the current respective categories.
A gun licence in Victoria is already a long and lengthy process to through with, one that requires character referees and a mandatory 28 day period before the licence is issued.
You, the police, should represent and uphold the law of the people, not seek to change it when it suits you. The Adler A-110 is a category A firearm, and should remain as such.
