The Flemington Rd Gum is still standing thanks to a 24-hour vigil by a roster of concerned supporters, while a new design (Option 6) has been presented to VicRoads to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists & motorists, as well as keep the tree. Still, it seems likely that tree works will start again any time now. If chainsaws arrive, the Guardians of the Flemington Rd Gum are hoping lots of people will come down to watch in support of their efforts.
