On the appraisal the house was listed as having 2 acres instead of the .92 that it actually came with. Also was listed as having all appliances (stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave, disposal and range hood). It did not sell with Washer, dryer, microwave and the refrigerator was broken! Also the square footage wasn’t right. The comparable houses were not comparable and some 6+ miles away! This all made the house seem to be more than it was worth. Plus the appraiser did flag foundation cracks but only a couple of them. The lender accepted some photos of caulking over the cracks by the seller and the loan was approved. I called the Va and they said it was still pending repairs! We were told it was inspected for the 2nd time by the lender and our real estate agent! We feel that we were taken advantage of for being naïve to the process. We thought that the VA loan appraiser would protect us that in fact it even hurt us more we paid for an independent inspector to come out, but he failed us too ! Because somehow he missed critical things that a good inspector should ever never miss and right within plain sight. Now we’re faced with not only the walls completely rotten from years of water exposure, but the chimney is unsafe and could fill in any moment. We also have mold in our crawlspace, and even though we had a termite inspection, there are still signs of previous termite infestation in our crawlspace. But the inspector would know that because he didn’t even go into the crawlspace. What do we do now? Everybody’s passing the buck onto someone else. Every time I try posting something about it the VA flag it and removes it. I’m not blaming the VA. I’m blaming my inspector the appraiser in my real estate agent but all the same here we are breathing and mold! My husband served 21 years and 10 months in the United States Army! He fought many wars in many battles and he sacrificed a lot. More than the name person you have to Baire. To fight such a fight and then to come home and fight for a safe home protected by the ones we rely on for protection is completely absurd.
